Purpose

To set standards for the city's animal shelter and the care of animals. The Board also provides a remedy for enforcement and penalties.

Duties

To provide periodic reports to the Texas Department of Health.

Membership

There are four members on the board. These members must be comprised of one licensed veterinarian, one county or city official, one person whose duties include the daily operation of an animal shelter, and one representative from an animal welfare organization.

Meetings

The Animal Shelter Advisory Board meets at least three times per year.
