The Animal Services Facility at 1517 Westpark Way has undergone a year-long renovation and expansion to better serve the community. Originally constructed in 1978 as a Fleet Service Center, the building was repurposed in 1998 as a fire station. In 2025, Fire Station No. 2 was relocated to a newly constructed facility at 2301 West Pipeline Road. With the fire station vacating the site, the City moved forward with plans to transform the entire building into an expanded Animal Services Facility.

The renovated space now spans nearly 14,000 square feet - approximately five times larger than the previous shelter - and is designed to meet the community's growing needs. The upgraded facility includes additional kennels and holding areas for a variety of animals, dedicated grooming and bathing spaces, and outdoor exercise and play areas. It also features thoughtfully designed "Get to Know" rooms, providing a comfortable environment for residents to meet and interact with adoptable pets. Residents are encouraged to visit the new facility and consider giving a pet a forever home.
