JOB SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, the Assistant Track Coach coaches individuals and groups regarding track and field activities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructs athletes in proper track and field form and techniques.
- Explains and demonstrates proper use of equipment.
- Observes athletes to detect and correct mistakes and provides feedback on performance.
- Coordinates track and field competitive events and organizes athletes and ensures attendance at events.
- Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.
- Performs other functions as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of modern principles/practices of track and field program development and implementation.
- Knowledge of pertinent laws, codes, and safety regulations; track and field competition rules and procedures; track and field techniques.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A minimum of one year of experience organizing track and field events is required. Must be able to work varied days and hours. Must be at least 16 years old. Must have, or the ability to obtain, a valid Texas driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Sitting; standing; walking; pushing/pulling loads up to 50 lbs. (carts loaded with tables and chairs); verbal communication; lifting/carrying loads up to 50 lbs.; stair/ladder climbing; overhead reaching; near/distant vision; must be able to set up and take down athletic equipment (volleyball, etc.); moving large and awkward objects (may be required to move the following items by yourself: 72” round tables, 6’ long tables, volleyball standards, tumbling mats, etc.). Works indoors and/or outdoors in a controlled environment.
