Kickball Rules
JERSEYS:
Players can wear whatever comfortable athletic clothing they choose – jerseys DO NOT have to match and no numbers are required.
ROSTERS:
Teams can have up to 20 players on their roster and can add and delete players at any time. Players can play on more than one team on the same night or league.
PLAYING FIELD:
Same as for Softball - base paths 70 ft. - pitching rubber - 50 ft.
THE GAME:
Teams will play 7 innings or 50 minutes which ever comes first.
RUN RULES:
10 runs after 5 innings, 12 runs after 4, 15 runs after 3 innings.
PITCHING:
Ball must be delivered in a underhand motion and released before the pitchercrosses the pitching rubber. For an illegal roll - time will be called and a ball added to the count on the kicker. NO EXCESSIVE SPEED THROWS!
KICKING:
Kicker will be out on 3 strikes - counting fouls - or will be awarded first base
on 4 balls. If a Male player is walked, the Female player will be allowed to take her base as well if she chooses. Kicker must strike the ball with their foot and must be inside the kicker's box when they make contact. If they kick the ball from outside the box they will be called out. BUNTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
FAIR & FOUL:
The criteria for fair & foul balls is just like softball and baseball.
LINE-UPS:
A team must have a minimum of 4 women to play - they can field 9 players with 5 men and 4 women, 10 players with 5 / 5, 10 defensive players and 2 extra kickers with 6 women and 6 men. A team may also play with more women than men of any combination. Male / Female players will alternate in the line up as long as that is possible. NOTE: TEAMS CANNOT HAVE MORE THAN 7 PLAYERS IN THE INFIELD AT TIME OF PITCH. In addition, all defensive players must be positioned behind the pitcher at time of pitch.
STIKE ZONE:
When any part of the ball crosses any part of the plate with extensions and is no higher than 12 inches off the ground when it crosses the plate.
PLAYER IS OUT:
When strike 3 is recorded by the umpire including kicking a foul ball. When a player is hit with a thrown ball (below the waist) while off the base. Tagged out or forced out going to a base. Their kick is caught by a defensive player in the air before it touches the ground.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Hitting a player above the waist with the ball constitutes a penalty to the defense. Player is not out and receives (1) extra base, other runners move up as needed.
SUBSTITION:
Free substitution for any player - must be the same sex.
This Kickball League is intended as a fun league, therefore the rules have been written with the intent of a recreational experience with as few restrictions as possible, the management of Softball World reserve
the right to change and or enforce these rules as deemed necessary to obtain that goal.
