The City of Euless has for many years recognized the importance of planning for parks, recreation and open space. In 2007 the City of Euless completed an extensive needs assessment evaluation to address the park, recreation and open space needs for Euless residents over the next ten years. The results of this Needs Assessment help Parks & Community Services staff, Parks and Leisure Services Board members and the Euless City Council to use in presenting and developing future budgets to address these needs.
A Recreation Needs Assessment and Attitude Survey was conducted on parks and recreational issues in the community from randomly selected respondents. In addition, city sponsored activities and programs were evaluated, property and recreational facilities were inventoried and all were compared with other cities and the National Recreation Parks Association along with the goals and objectives of the City of Euless.
The items residents were most passionate or deemed most important to them were:
- jogging/biking trails
- natural habitat/nature areas
- senior center
- family aquatic facility
- dog park
- children's water playground
A large family aquatic facility, which would include pools and children's spray play areas received the most support from survey participants. The Fiscal Year 2012 Budget provides funding for design of the Indoor and Outdoor Aquatic Centers of the Euless Family Life Center. The City of Euless will begin to solicit qualifications from potential design firms. The procurement methods planned to be utilized includes a traditional design, bid, build for the buildings and required parking, using an architectural design Firm and general contractor.
Design of a family aquatic facility will address the aquatic needs of our citizens and will be accessible to individuals of all physical capabilities, skill levels, age groups, income, and activity. If you have additional questions, please contact Ray McDonald at 817-685-1669.
