Salary/Retirement

Salary

Salary ranges are designed to be competitive with area industries and municipalities.

Social Security

Euless is a non-participating agency. Funds are set aside in a Public Pension or other retirement system for retirement.

Public Pension

Full-Time Employees are enrolled in the Texas Municipal Retirement System – employee contributes 7% of salary; City matches 2:1.

OBRA Plan

Part-Time Employees are enrolled in the OBRA Plan through Nationwide Retirement Systems – employee contributes 7.5% of salary.

Deferred Compensation, 457(b)

Employees may contribute additional retirement savings through Nationwide Retirement Systems.

Longevity Pay
  • $5.00 for every month of service after the first year.
  • $10.00 for every month of service after the sixth year.

Longevity Pay is added to paychecks as a lump sum in December of each year.

Tuition Reimbursement

After six months of employment, the city will reimburse full-time employees for a portion of the cost of tuition, fees and books. Conditions and restrictions do apply.

Paid Time Off

Vacation

Full-Time Employees receive paid vacation days after 1 year of service.

  • Year 1 through 5: Employees accrue 80 hours of paid vacation each year (Police & non-shift Fire accrue 120 hours)
  • Year 6 through 15: Employees accrue 120 hours of paid vacation each year
  • Year 16+: Employees accrue 160 hours of paid vacation each year

Due to shift differentials, the following accrual rates apply for firefighters:

  • Year 1 through 15:  Firefighters accrue 180 hours of paid vacation each year
  • Year 16+:  Firefighters accrue 240 hours of paid vacation each year
Holidays

Employees receive 9 paid holidays per calendar year, including a floating holiday.

  • Spring Holiday

    (Friday designated by the City Manager.  Firefighters may observe September 11th as the Spring Holiday.)
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving and the Following Friday
  • Christmas Eve

Sick Leave

Employees with 1 through 20 years receive 120 hours of paid sick leave each year. Employees with 20+ years receive 160 hours of paid sick leave each year.

Due to shift differentials, firefighters with 1 through 20 years receive 180 hours of paid sick leave each year.  Firefighters with 20+ years receive 240 hours of paid sick leave each year. Sick leave may be banked to a maximum of 130 days.

Employees may use 3 days per calendar year towards immediate family members.

Emergency Leave

Employees may be granted up to 3 days of paid emergency leave per calendar year for a catastrophic event. Firefighters may be granted up to 1.5 firefighter shifts per calendar year.

Medical Insurance

Medical Insurance is available to full-time employees, eligible dependents, and retirees.

Dental Insurance

Dental Insurance is available to full-time employees, eligible dependents, and retirees.

Vision Insurance

Vision Insurance is available to full-time employees, eligible dependents, and retirees.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Medical and Child/Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts are available to full-time employees.

Income Protection

Worker's Compensation

Employees may receive up to six months of salary continuation due to an on-the-job injury.

Short-Term Disability (STD)

Full-Time employees may receive short-term disability income after 30 days of disability and exhaustion of their sick leave bank.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)

Full-Time employees may receive long-term disability income after 6 months of disability.

Life Insurance

The City covers full-time employees at 2.5x the employee's annual salary.

Voluntary Life Insurance

Additional insurance may be purchased by the employee for themselves, their spouse and dependent children.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

The City covers full-time employees at 1.5x the employee's annual salary.

Other Perks

Service Awards

Employees receive service pins for every five years of service.

Uniforms/Cleaning

A cleaning service is provided for Parks, Public Works and Facility Maintenance employees.

A cleaning allowance is provided for Police and Fire employees (shirts only).

Employee Assistance Program

Counseling services, child care referrals and pre-paid legal advice is available to all full-time employees.

Recreation Center

Employees receive a free membership to the Euless Family Life Center for themselves and their immediate family living in their home.

Golf Course

Employees receive a 15% discount on green fees and carts at the Texas Star Golf Course.

Animal Shelter

The Euless Animal Shelter will waive all adoption fees for employees adopting a pet.
