February 10, 2010
Euless firefighters arrived at an apartment in the 200 block of Bear Creek Drive at about 11:00 AM to investigate the report of an electrical short and a water leak. They discovered that a small fire had occurred in the bathroom of an upstairs, one-bedroom apartment and had self extinguished prior to the occupant awakening. It appeared that the bathroom exhaust fan had ignited due to some failure and burning plastic dropped down on a towel lying on top of the toilet tank, igniting it. The ensuing small fire cracked the tank allowing some of the water to run out on the floor.
No one was injured. Investigators noted that there was not a smoke detector in the apartment.
