Dear Citizens,

Mayor Saleh

This year started with cold, rainy weather and it has saturated our yards, gardens and golf course but is has not dampened our spirits. We are off to a busy year with plenty to do for all of us.

The Euless Revitalization Committee is accomplishing "wonders" with all the great volunteers from the faith based communities, businesses, and individual volunteers. Last year we had over 500 volunteers show up on our Blitz Weekend and this year even more. We are truly showing we are the "One of the Best Places to Raise Your Kids".

Construction work has begun on the new Senior Citizens Community Building and the completion date is the end of 2010. It will be a beautiful building in the heart of our city located in Midway Park. The Recreation Building is currently being revitalized and brought up to code and will be completed in late May. We thank all our citizens for adjusting to new places while this building is being completed.

Inside you will see all the members of our Boards and Commissions. We are grateful for all the time and talent they give while serving our city. If any of you are interested in serving please contact the City Secretary for applications.

You will also note the Volunteers of the Year for 2009. These Volunteers have gone above and beyond in their service to the city.

Each person should have received your Census Forms by now. Please fill them out and return them as soon as possible. Every person needs to be counted. If you need help please call Betsy Deck, Communications Manager at City Hall. If you do not return your information, someone will be calling at your door.

Election Day for city officers and school board officers is May 8, 2010. There are two polling places; one at the city library and the other at Bear Creek Elementary School. Please read the information regarding the early voting dates and times. And, please vote!

The City Council has passed two resolutions recently that will enhance the looks and the health of our citizens. The first resolution refers to Signs and Banners in our commercial businesses and the second refers to apartment upkeep and cleanliness and the timely inspections that will occur.

Arbor Daze in Euless is always the last weekend in April. This is truly a city weekend of fun and fabulous foods and entertainment. And, there is no cost to attend or park. There will be lots of information to share on trees, gardens, history of Euless, businesses and the census and plenty more. If you would like to volunteer in any way please call Jerry Poteet, Volunteer Coordinator for the city.

The library continues to have so many activities for all ages. Special musical programs are well received and all the special programs for the children and youth continue to please. The computers are in use at all times but there are plenty of things to do in the library if you have to wait.

While visiting in the library, look for the Library Foundation tile project near the Historical Room. The three dimensional tiles are so lovely and even the book spines are colorful. Most have been sold but if you are interested in purchasing a tile there is information at the check out desk.

Our parks are in their glory this spring so please enjoy and walk through daily if possible. There are lots of recreational activities listed for all ages. We were selected in 2009 as one of the very few "Playful Cities USA." That's because we offer so many diverse activities all year long through our Parks, Recreation and Library. Do Enjoy!

Together we are all working to make our city the FABEULESS community we live and work in. Thank you to all our volunteers.
