Reclaimed Water
In an extraordinary effort of team work, the cities of Euless and Arlington along with DFW Airport are working with the city of Fort Worth to explore opportunities to re-use waste water (reclaimed) from the Village Creek Treatment Plant in Fort Worth. Reclaimed or “recycled” water is produced from the water we use and discard every day. After proper treatment, it is ideal for many non-drinking purposes such as landscape watering. Reclaimed water is rapidly becoming a valuable resource and is a practical method of relieving the demand on potable water supplies.
We anticipate that once the infrastructure is in place, reclaimed water will be used for irrigation at Texas Star, the Parks at Texas Star and Softball World. It may also be available for heavy industrial uses. Since it is treated wastewater, it is not subject to drought restrictions and may provide additional nutrients to the turf, which makes good environmental sense. By using reclaimed water, we're working together to provide high-quality water for our environment and for the future. It provides an efficient use of the region's water resources while conserving valuable water supplies for the region. Every gallon of reclaimed water used for outdoor watering represents a gallon of potable water saved for drinking.
