Check Your Smoke Detectors

Clowns

The Euless Fire Department reminds you to change the batteries in your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide (CO) detectors and hazard warning radios when you change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time.

This simple step greatly increases a family's chances of escaping safely in the event of a house fire or a gas leak. A working smoke detector doubles the chance of surviving a fire. It's critical to test your smoke detectors regularly and to replace the batteries in battery-operated units at least once every six months, as well as in battery-operated carbon monoxide detectors. Safety experts also recommend replacing any smoke detector that is more than 10 years old. For more information, call the Euless Fire Department at 817-685-1600.

In March the Euless Fire Department responded to a single family house fire in Euless. Investigators determined that the home did not have any working smoke detectors, the first line of defense in a fire.

Euless Fire Crews will be canvasing the surrounding neighborhoods to test smoke detectors and provide installation of a detector or batteries if needed. If you receive a knock at the door from a Euless Firefighter, please let them help. For more information, call the Euless Fire Department at 817-685-1600.
