Barnett Shale in North Texas
Due to recent improvements in technology called hydrofracture technology, gas drilling has become more of a reality for oil and gas operators. Barnett Shale is a massive natural gas deposit that occurs naturally deep under approximately seven counties in North Central Texas and including northeast Tarrant County. The Barnett field stretches from Dallas west approximately 5,000 square miles and produces about 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day according to some industry reports.
Many residents in Euless may have gas reserves underneath their homes. If mineral rights to the home you own were obtained at the time of purchase, you may be contacted by a drilling company for a drilling lease option. In anticipation of the gas drilling, the City of Euless created a Gas Drilling and Production Ordinance with safety and quality of life at the forefront.
