City Manager Joe Hennig to Retire
City Manager Joe Hennig announced his
retirement after 15 years with the city.
With his
announcement,
Hennig stated that
the city's employees,
directors and
department
managers are the
most dedicated and
hard working that he
has worked with
during his career.
"They are a
tremendous asset to the
City of Euless," said Hennig.
Hennig, 59, has served as the city's manager since 1999, after serving Euless as Director of Development Services, Assistant City Manager and Deputy City Manager. Hennig has worked for the city since 1992 after retiring from 23 years with TXU.
As City Manager, Hennig oversaw much development in Euless along with significant bond projects that improved the major roads and infrastructure in Euless including the revitalization of Euless Main Street and Pipeline Road. Hennig was personally involved with the construction of Texas Star Athletic Complex and the DFW Car Rental Facility. Conservative budgeting and innovative development under Hennig's guidance has allowed Euless to remain in a strong financial position.
When asked his feelings on retiring after so many years, Hennig commented, "The citizens of Euless make our great city what it is today. There are many founding families that have been here since the beginning and they are the ones still volunteering at events, attending City Council meetings and making things happen. They donate their time and energy to Euless because they love it."
