Dear Citizens,
It seems that the weather is finally cooling down from the long, hot summer. As you know, Euless has fun activities all year long. We've got some great ones coming up. You can find out more inside this newsletter.
We are proud to announce the Volunteers of the Year for 2006 along with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
We are truly thankful for our volunteers and what they contribute to our great city. We also have selected the youth volunteer of the year and the business volunteer of the year. Our volunteers are very special and we could not support all our great events without them.
You'll notice in the recreation section of the newsletter, we have marked "Smart Choice" programs and classes that are a part of a Healthy New Euless effort. We really encourage all of our citizens to get out and exercise on some way. Walking especially is something that people of any age and fitness level can participate in. We have great parks with walking paths all over the city. Please see the parks map on page 26 to find out about more parks in your neighborhood. Our parks are beautiful, and are a great place to exercise with friends or on your own. Enjoy!
The Euless Historical Preservation Committee is promoting awareness of the historical heritage in Euless. The Committee gives tours 1-5 p.m. on the second Saturday each month of the Fuller House, Himes Log House and McCormick Barn. We hope you enjoy learning about Euless history and can take a tour of Heritage Park.
A safety issue that really increases during the Holidays is fire safety. Fires can occur very easily in and around Christmas trees. It's very important to keep the tree fresh throughout the season by ensuring that it doesn't dry out and the lights used to decorate the tree are safe to use on trees. In addition, candles are another huge factor contributing to fires. Candles are pretty look at and smell nice, but they need to be taken very seriously when it comes to fire safety. Please be cautious when using candles and never leave a burning candle unattended. It just takes seconds for a large fire to start.
We are delighted to announce that Pipeline Road is now open for travel. That completes our 1998 Bond Election Projects. We are working together with Grapevine on Glade Road, which should be completed sometime next year.
The Euless Library is a hub of activity year round. They always have educational and fun programs as well as great resources for any endeavor you may come across. Libraries have books, magazines, databases and internet access all at no charge. Do visit our library and achieve your goals.
Euless has proudly been a Tree City USA for the past nineteen years and is firmly committed to the importance of trees in the environment. This year Arbor Daze will be scaled back in size so members of our community can join in the fun. Please stay tuned for more information about our upcoming Arbor Daze celebration in April.
Again, a special thanks to all our Volunteers because TOGETHER WE ARE BUILDING A BETTER TOMORROW.
