Dear Earl,
Help! I'm new to Euless and I've never seen the Blue Bag Recycling Program before. What am I supposed to do?
Blue-less in Euless
Dear Blue-Less,
Euless uses the Blue Bag Program for recyclables. They can be purchased at grocery stores or home improvement stores locally. The blue bags should be used to recycle glass bottles and jars; plastic bottles and containers (#'s 1,2,3,4,5 and 7 only) and metal, (aluminum, tin and steel) cans. Papers and paper products like cereal box board and junk mail all go in the paper sacks. Whatever can't be recycled should be placed in trash bags and heads to the landfill. Clear bags will be picked up as trash, so please be sure to use a blue bag.
SOME RECYCLING HINTS:
- You do not have to remove labels or crush cans.
- Rinse out the containers before throwing them in the blue bag.
- Remove caps or lids because they aren't recycled.
- Do not recycle aerosol cans or hazardous materials.
- If you have a lot of phone books, magazines, and newspapers it's fine to tie them into bundles.
- Corrugated cardboard can either be put into the sacks or tied in bundles. Just be sure your bundles weigh less than 50 pounds.
Blue bags are only picked up once a week as compared to garbage which is picked up twice a week. Please be sure you know your recycling day to avoid problems. Remember to keep the blue bags and paper sacks separate from your garbage (at least three feet is best) on your recycling pick-up day. They should be at your drawbridge by 7 a.m. the day of your pick up.
E, The Earl of Euless
