Preserve at McCormick Park The Parks and Community Services Department is about
to unveil the newest addition to our award-winning park
system. The Preserve at McCormick Park is located at
2005 Fuller-Wiser Road between Ash Lane and Mid-Cities
Boulevard. The park was funded with assistance through
the Texas Recreation and Parks Account Program
administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
and through a generous donation from Terry Sandlin
who is the developer of the Fountain Park Home
Addition. The 27 acre park provides connections to existing trails
east at The Villages of Bear Creek Park and west at
McCormick Park. In addition, the park consists of two
ponds, a gazebo, playground, outdoor classroom, boardwalk, fishing pier, bird watching area, species trail
and the Historic Tree Grove.
This park was designed with assistance from elementary
and junior high school students from Bear Creek
Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, North Euless
Elementary and Euless Junior High who formed the Kid’s
Design Council. The students played an important role by
suggesting design elements that were incorporated into
the park. The HEB-ISD elementary science teachers are
currently making plans to take field trips to this park and
use the area as an outdoor laboratory for the students.
The City of Euless welcomes visitors to the Preserve at
McCormick Park beginning in January 2006. |
