ER Inauguration
Please note that the ER Program has now become the Community Powered Revitalization (CPR) Program.
In the fall of 2007, staff members from First Baptist Church of Euless and Restoration Church approached the City Manager's Office with a question; "What can we do to help?" This was a simple question with a challenging answer. After a few weeks of planning, the Euless Revitalization Committee was formed. The ER Committee was able to provide the names of two struggling families whose homes desperately needed repairs. Each church adopted one of these properties and went to work. When the dust had settled two Euless families were welcomed back into their restored homes. The lives of all those involved were changed. Two families had second chances to live in homes that were no longer falling apart, and volunteers were able to witness first hand how their time and money actually made a difference in the community they belong to.
Since that time the ER Program has grown into a coalition of churches, businesses, civic groups and individuals all working with the City of Euless to help return hope to families in need. Numerous families have been touched by this program but there are many more families in waiting for assistance. The needed repairs vary considerably; some are minor; others are more serious and require skilled volunteers. A single person, business or church may not be able to adopt an entire project by themselves, but working together there is no limit to the amount of work that we can accomplish.
This endeavor is making an impact in our community and has proved that the principal of "neighbors helping neighbors" is alive and thriving in Euless.
