Citizens Fire-Police Academy

The Euless Fire and Police Departments jointly sponsor a Citizens Fire-Police Academy. The academy is a 13 week program that provides citizens the opportunity to gain a better behind the scenes understanding of the fire and police functions in the City. Check out the CFPA Brochure to find out more and apply.
The classes are taught one night a week at various locations throughout the City with some optional Saturday classes. Classes typically are held on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. with the actual academy occurring once a year.
Classes cover a wide range of topics and involve a number of hands on activities students are encouraged to participate in. Topics include the history of the fire and police departments, criminal investigations, jail operations, the 9-1-1 center, laws, traffic stops, building searches, polygraph use, crime scene procedures, conducting building searches, fire science, fire extinguishers, personal protective equipment, hose evolutions, EMS, fire investigations, fire code enforcement and many others. Hands on activities include firearms training, live firefighting scenarios, making traffic stops and vehicle rescue which will involve class members actually cutting a car apart using heavy rescue tools.

The whole idea is that participants will have a fun learning experience and will be a better informed citizen and partner of the City's public safety team upon completion.
